What an awesome experience attending the events this past week for NYCIFIF! Watch below our video for the recap of the screening and awards.

THE SCREENING

My film The Lost Jews of Pakistan had our first NYC screening at The Producer’s Club in the Theater District in Manhattan. Myself, Eric Brionez, the Producer of the film, Zeinnedine and his parents Soofian and Fatima were in attendance. And wow, how cool was it to see our film on the big screen! NYCIFIF mapped out all of the films to be shown on Tuesday October 24th starting at 2pm. Our film was shown later at night rolling out at 8:40pm. We really enjoyed the theater and was able to watch another award winning drama short film called Army Men directed by Paul Louis. Which was a touching true story of his childhood friend and mental health.

THE AWARDS

The Awards Ceremony was a star studded event held the next day Wednesday Oct 25th at the historic “La Nacional” space at 239 W 14th St, New York, NY 10011. Right when we stepped into the building we are greeted by the festival’s event team and an official NYCIFIF backdrop with a professional photographer to capture the candid moments of the guests. Along with a full bar, we grabbed some spanish themed sangrias before entering the awards room. That’s when we heard the melodic tunes of piano composer Hayley Lam. Once the ceremony started we also got a song performance by Catalan composer Mireia MEIA Santiago, who also was the cohost of the event. So many films from around the world recieved accolades and while we didn’t win the trophy that night for Best Short Documentary, we did receive a ‘Special Mention’ where myself and Eric were able to speak about our film on stage to the audience. It was such a fun experience and it was awesome to network with fellow creatives and movie enthusiasts.

Thanks again to the team of The New York City International Films Infest Festival (NYCIFIF) and we hope to have another film project launched soon to submit again!
